Wonderlab

with Wonderbound Artists

November 14 – 16, 2019

Resident within the Wonderbound family is a collection of established and aspiring choreographers. Wonderlab is a vital component in advancing their craft. This program will provide a unique platform for their artistic development through the creation of four world-premiere works.

The 2019 edition of Wonderlab will feature new choreography by Associate Choreographer Sarah Tallman and Company Artists Deanna Lefton, Henry Maximilian McCall and Morgan Sicklick.

Syria Draws, Promoting Syrian Artwork

In partnership with Leon Gallery, Syrian artwork will be displayed and available for purchase during Wonderlab, at this three-day event.

The artwork tells a powerful story by looking through the eyes of displaced Syrian artists in the U.S. and abroad. Bios and pictures from the gallery can be found on www.syriadraws.com.

Featured artists include Tammam Jaramni, May Attasi, Etab Hreb, Essa Neima, and Nas Nouilati.

CHOREOGRAPHERS:

Sarah Tallman is one of Wonderbound’s longest-standing Company Artists. Before coming on board in 2004, Sarah danced with David Taylor Dance Company, Kim Robards Dance, Lynn Barr and Gleich Dance Contemporary Ballet. Aside from being the Principal dancer in many of Garrett Ammon’s ballets, Sarah is also an accomplished choreographer and instructor inside Wonderbound—and around her Denver community.

Deanna Lefton has been a Wonderbound dancer since 2018. She has performed works by Sharon Eyal, Paul Vasterling, Myron Johnson, Johanna Kotze and many more. Deanna has danced with James Sewell Ballet, Oakland Ballet, Arena Dances, Black Label Movement, Burnswork and Live Action Set. She has appeared in Garrett Ammon’s Wicked Bayou, Winter and Boomtown, among others.

Henry Maximilian McCall has been a Wonderbound dancer since 2018. He studied at a series of schools, including the Ailey School Junior Division and Manhattan Youth Ballet, before graduating from Walnut Hill School for the Arts under Michael Owen. This was followed by a move across the country to work and study at the Pacific Northwest Ballet, in their Professional Division Program, under Peter Boal. While there, he performed in Balanchine's A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Kent Stowell’s The Nutcracker, while also working with choreographers such as Crystal Pite. Since then, he moved back across the country to study in, and graduate from, the Ailey/Fordham BFA program in the class of 2018. While in New York City, he spent time freelancing with various artists and companies including being an apprentice with Ailey II. He joined Wonderbound after graduation for the 2018-2019 season. Since joining Wonderbound, Henry has been featured in Garrett Ammon’s Wicked Bayou, With Your Help and Boomtown.

Morgan Sicklick has been dancing with Wonderbound since 2015. Her repertoire with KCB includes works by Michael Pink, Victoria Morgan, Septime Webre, George Balanchine, Todd Bolender, Devon Carney, and Anthony Krutzkamp. In addition to KCB, Morgan has performed with Quixotic Cirque Nouveau and the Kansas City Dance Festival. Since joining Wonderbound, Morgan has been featured in Garrett Ammon’s Love of my Life, Winter, Snow, Celestial Navigation and Boomtown. She also has a love for choreography and created her first work for Wonderbound’s Wonderlab, entitled A Moment of One, in 2018.
